Lance Stroll has extended his contract with Aston Martin, racing for the team now until ‘2025 and beyond’.
Stroll moved to the Silverstone based team in 2019, after his father Lawrence Stroll had acquired Force India after the team had fallen into administration.
Following his purchase of the team, the name was changed to Racing Point, and he signed his son, Lance.
The Canadian driver’s best championship position was 10th which he achieved last year following the team’s impressive pace at the start of that year.
Stroll’s had two podiums with the team and one pole position, which he achieved all in 2020.
Despite being a controversial figure in the paddock due to fans not believing he is worthy of a seat, he has impressed in the last few races, out-qualifying Alonso in most.
Here is what Stroll said on the team’s official website following his contract extension:
"I'm super happy to have committed to staying with the team for 2025 and beyond.
"It's amazing to see how far we've come in the last five years; we've grown so much as a team and there's still so much more to look forward to."
Here is what team boss Mike Krack had to say on the extension:
"We are delighted to confirm Lance's future with Aston Martin Aramco. He has played a key role in building this team. His technical feedback, alongside his committed simulator work, has helped contribute to the continuous development of the car each season.
"The consistency and stability of both Lance and Fernando remaining with our team is a great platform to continue to realise our ambitions. We look forward to creating some more incredible memories and achieving further success together."
With Stroll seemingly unmoveable from that seat, will we see him flourish in years to come with Aston Martin expecting to be a challenger in the coming years.
