7 time Formula 1 World Champion, Lewis Hamilton, and former tennis No.1, Serena Williams, have reportedly backed Martin Broughton‘s bid to buy Chelsea Football team. The Boughton consortium is thought to be one of 3 groups looking to buy the football team.
Chelsea football club went up for sale after Russian owner Roman Abramovich put the club up for sale as a result of government sanctions.
Sky has reported that Lewis Hamilton and Serena Williams have pledged investment into the bid however it is likely the 2 will have no say in any footballing decisions if the club is bought by Boughton.
As a result of this news, the word of Lewis Hamilton and Serena Williams wanting to invest in a bid for Chelsea football club has already got to drivers as some have even spoke out about the news and making statements. One of them is reigning world champion, Max Verstappen, who said after hearing the news, “I thought he was an Arsenal Fan.”
Lewis Hamilton has been pictured in the past wearing the Arsenal Football Team shirt and has featured in Arsenal events (pictured below). Max Verstappen also added “I am a PSV fan and I would never buy Ajax”.
