McLaren's new sponsor
McLaren announced today via social media, a new "major multi-year partnership" with crypto company 'OKX'. They announced further that 'OKX' will be the teams primary sponsor. The logo's of the crypto currency company will be present on the cars, overalls, team wear and driver helmets from Miami onwards according to the team. McLaren now become the 8th team on the grid to have a sponsorship deal with a crypto company.
The return of the German GP?
Earlier this week, Volkswagen CEO, Herbert Diess, confirmed that both Audi and Porsche will join F1 in 2026 as engine suppliers. In addition, the VW CEO also added "I also know of plans that we will have a Grand Prix in Germany again, which should then also revive Formula 1 in Germany." Diess also mentioned that they want a German driver in both teams.
F122 and the further details released today
F122 is being released on July 1st of this year and we have already been given a few details into the new game. First of all the front cover of the game has been released, Charles Leclerc is in the middle with George Russell to his right and Lando Norris to his left. This decision may have been influenced by the fact these 3 played f1 2020 a lot in the COVID-19 lockdown.
The Champions edition of the game has a different front cover and has Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton stood in the middle with Verstappen slightly in front of Hamilton, Alonso is to the left of Hamilton and Vettel is to the right of Verstappen. A trailer of Miami on the new game was also released today and can be found on F1's YouTube channel.
Williams' weight problem
Today, we found out that Williams engineers requested if they could strip all the paint off the car in order to save weight. Williams have been progressively removing paint from their car along with most noticeably, McLaren. This request however, was rejected and one of the main reason for this may have been, sponsors.
