VW and BMW look to join F1

Over the last few days, news and rumours have been released about VW potentially pushing for both Porsche and Audi to join the Formula 1 and partner up with existing teams.

The first rumours released concerned Porsche and Red Bull and a potential partnership in the future whilst Audi reportedly offered McLaren firstly £450 million then £650 million to take a stake in the team but now has been reported to have 'fallen through' as the team are "not willing" to sell the team. It seems now BMW and McLaren are now in talks about a potential partnership but nothing is confirmed just yet and this rumour is one of the latest rumours to be released.

As the McLaren and Audi deal could be over, Audi are reportedly in talks with both Aston Martin and Alfa Romeo. It was also reported that Lawrence Stroll approached Audi concerning his ambition of launching his own engine but is believed that Stroll has already dropped this idea. It has also been recently revealed that Lawrence Stroll allegedly wanted to buy the Mercedes engine manufacturer 'HPP' in Brixworth, or at least acquire parts of it but this did not happen.

Porsche and Red Bull were rumoured to have a potential partnership back in 2018 and have always been in 'contact'. It is reported that Red Bull Powertrains (RBPT) will build the combustion engine whilst Porsche will deal with the more electrical side of things.

Porsche also seek a partnership in which they have a say in things and the purchase of team shares.

The Volkswagen board have reportedly now given the 2 car manufacture companies the 'go-ahead' to join F1 and the Porsche and Red Bull deal is the closest to being done.
